The 2018-2019 boat show season is getting ready to kick off, as it always does, in beautiful Newport, Rhode Island. The weather last year was flawless, other than a bit of fog on the last day, and we hope for more of the same this year. We are also hoping to arrive in time for the opening of the show as last year Hurricane Irma had other ideas about our travel plans. It looks like there will be a great selection of trawlers and motor yachts to view and some exciting premiers as well.
Since Hinckley announced their new Sport Boat concept in March at the Palm Beach show, we have been anxious to see if they are as lovely in person as they appear in design. Hinckley is bringing a hot-out-of-the-mold 40C, which is the center-console version, to the Newport show and it's sure to be a very popular stop along the docks. Hinckley will also be debuting their new Picnic Boat 40. As with all of the Picnic Boats, this one is a stunner and includes a remote-powered hull-side deck door. That door is sure to get a good workout in Newport. Hinckley has just announced that they will also premier the Talaria 48 Mk II model in Newport.
Princess will be bringing its new V60 yacht over from England to premier in Newport. This sporty coupe slots in betwen the V65 and V50 Open in Princess' lineup.
Palm Beach Motor Yachts will be debuting its all-new GT50 model which besides looking fast sitting at the dock, get an astounding 1.1 mile per gallon at 25 knots. Even at 35 knots she burns only 40 gallons per hour. Wow!
And Back Cove will be showing off its new 34O, the first outboard powered boat from this Maine manufacturer.
Of course the specs on all the new models at the Newport show, and their future boat show schedules are available in the YachtBase.
If you plan to attend, the show has just released the show map for 2018 and we include it here for your convenience.
